Care and use of magnetic sheet used for vehicle signs The use of magnetic sheet for vehicle signs may, in exceptional circumstances, result in damage to vehicle paintwork. The following advice is therefore given to minimise the risk of such damage occurring. Whilst our own extensive tests have not given rise to any incidences of damage to paintwork whilst following the advice given on the care sheet, we do not guarantee that there will not be an adverse reaction between the magnetic sheet and the vehicle paintwork.
- Do not apply magnetic sheet to newly painted surfaces, especially non-factory applied finishes.
- Do clean and polish the application area of the vehicle with a high quality wax polish, ensuring that both the vehicle and magnet are clean and dry prior to placing the magnetic sheet on the paintwork.
- Do ensure that the magnetic sign is removed regularly, cleaned with soapy water, not solvents, rinsed, dried and re-applied. Ideally this should be done daily but at least every two days. In very hot weather, it MUST be done daily.
- Do ensure that all of the magnetic sheet is in contact with the vehicle (avoid heavily contoured areas) to ensure maximum performance and thus avoid movement of the sign whilst in use at motorway speeds.
- Do not use on body panels containing plastic filler since this will drastically reduce the magnetic performance
- When not in use, keep the magnetic sign flat – preferably store it on a flat steel surface to avoid the magnetic face attracting airborne ferrous dust.
There is no warranty expressed or implied against loss of signs or damage to vehicle surfaces, as we have no control over how signs are cared for, altered, stored, and/or used, or the surface to which the signs are applied. Unless specified, we round all corners.

Common Questions and Answers about custom vehicle magnetic signs.
Q.. Do vehicles need special preparation before applying your magnetic signs?
A.. Yes, both the vehicle surface and the back of the magnetic sign should be clean and dry. The vehicle should be waxed prior to applying any magnetic sign.
Q.. What is the best way to apply a magnetic sign?
A.. Let one edge of the sign contact the vehicle in the desired position then allow the magnetic power to pull the sign against the vehicle until you reach the opposite end. If the sign is not exactly where you want it, peel it off. Reposition the starting edge and repeat. Make sure that the entire surface of sign is smoothly against the vehicle with no air pockets underneath. In winter the temperature of the sign should be above 50 degrees during Installation. The temperature of the vehicle surface does not matter.
Q.. Do any surfaces present problems?
A.. Care should be taken with wood grain paneling and metallic finishes. Such surfaces should be checked weekly for the first 90 days of use. A Generous waxing of both the surface where the sign will be placed and the back of the sign itself will help prevent damage.
Q.. What sign maintenance is recommended?
A.. Remove the sign weekly and wipe dry both the magnetic side and the surface of the vehicle. During warmer humid weather it is recommended to remove the sign every three to four days this keeps moisture from collecting, which can potentially damage a vehicle's surface. Simply wash it with warm water and mild detergent. Remove sign after snowfall or rain and wipe dry.
Q.. What special precautions must be taken storing custom vehicle magnetic signs?
A.. Avoid wrinkling by storing in a 3 inch diameter roll with the printed side of the sign pointed to the outside of the roll, or store the sign flat. Since custom vehicle magnetic signs are permanently magnetic, you need not protect against magnetic destruction. Anything else is just common sense – like don't put heavy things on or against signs in storage.
Q.. Any other tips and suggestions?
A.. Corner rounding prevents dog-eared corners. For best results, custom shapes should utilize rounded contours rather than sharp angles.
